MAKAU O ‘OAHU (HOOK OF ‘OAHU)

Each hook is a reference to the popular Polynesian legend that tells of a Polynesian God named Maui who attempted to pull the whole continent from beneath the ocean. But in his attempt Maui’s fishing line snapped, and his efforts were prematurely terminated. Thus the Hawaiian Islands were born. The fish hook flew up into the sky and became Ka Makau Nui O Maui. The constellation also known as Scorpius.
